Originally I named this composition "Lolliflops" and it was warmly embraced by friends on my social media networks. When author Dr. Shira Tarrant passed the photo onto her co-author Dr. Marjorie Jolles, the two agreed that Lolliflops was the perfect cover  for their new book.  SUNY Press got on-board and I had my first photo publishing deal in hand.

When Dr. Shira Tarrant asked me to do take the cover image for the revised second edition of her book "Men Speak Out", I was thrilled.  I was working out an idea with the pebbles and rocks, and my feet accidentally got into the frame. I liked the idea and became  convinced that this was the right image for the book. Dr. Tarrant agreed and Routledge Publishing was on board!

 I'm glad I was wearing those socks that day. The fact is, they do not carry a gender-biased look, which was key to this image working in this context.

I call my abstract photography "Cosmography." To me, it means "everyday objects turned outside In" or "an outward journey into Inner space."

I enjoy taking photographs that juxtapose the warm interweaving beauty of nature with the cold hard lines of industry.
